PBC UPDATE - NOVEMBER 2007
A quick update on various PBC issues for you all
PBC SAVINGS
- All now agreed
- Consortium plans are being implemented and practices can claim for their practice specific services
- Remember to make sure you have invoices to back up your costs and claims
- Send claims to Richard Clements at PCT
- Loan applications are being paid out
- Theres information on News page about the ELIC pooled money
ACTIVITY
- Q1 activity reports now sent out and each practice should have received a summary from ELIC
- Encouraging news is that there appears to be a general underspend although it is still early in the year
- We have also used information from the Primary Care Performance Framework on comparative activity rates to highlight areas to you and you may want to look carefully at those areas where you are an outlier - some Consortium education sessions are being arranged around some of these areas
- if you want help on this let me know!
- There are bigger problems in trying to get a final year end outturn report for 2006/7 - we have not yet abandoned all hope of this or of getting answers to our questions recovery.doc
- Meanwhile the demand for recovery plans from practices who overspent last year has abated
NEW SERVICES
- As well as the Specialist Heart Failure Nurses, ELIC has also been succesful in getting agreement from the PCT for the following
- 3 centres for minor surgery - Lawson, Nightingale and Well St - new service to start in January and details will appear here soon
- Development of a primary care based major minor surgery service during 2008
- Community based glaucoma management transferring out from Moorfields to start in 2008
We will be focusing over the next 3 months on getting these up and running
CONSORTIUM MEETINGS
- For Consortia who pooled money to develop education sessions these are now kicking off to address areas you highlight - let us have ideas!
- We have almost completed the round of meetings to discuss midwifery and antenatal services. These have been really useful and an action plan is being developed
- We are in the midst of another round of Consortium meetings before the end of the year to discuss polyclinics and how we as practices can shape this agenda
- We are also developing plans for education sessions on
- Echos
- Heart Failure
- Rectal bleeding relaunch
- Erectile dsyfunction
- Post menopausal bleeding
Busy few months!
